He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Scott Sr. and Marie C. Scott. He is survived by: his grandmother Melissa Dukes; his uncles, Joe Dukes and William "Sonny" Scott; his aunt Brenda Scott; his siblings, Betty Scott Causey, Vincent Scott, Paul Scott, Jasmin Scott, Jason Scott, Janelle Scott-Russell and Joshua Scott; and his sisters-in-law, Jackie Reid-Scott, Donna Reid and Debbie Reid-Archer.
Russell's last good deed and his wishes were to donate any of his viable organs. As a result of his organ-donations, three lives were saved; including an NYPD 1st Grade Detective Mary Woods.
