Mary Catherine Ruggles Obituary
Bath, NY – Mary C. Ruggles, 82, of Bath, NY formerly of Painted Post died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 28, 1940, in Corning, NY the daughter of Francis and June Rotsell. Mary retired from Corning Incorporated Local United Steel Workers Union 1000, Corning, NY in 2001.
Mary had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for her many practical jokes and great Halloween costumes for many years. In retirement she took care of several elderly people. Mary loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In the last year of her life she loved watching The Golden Girls and in the spirit of that show her family would like to say "Thank you for being a friend".
She is survived by her children, Mike (Crystal) Recktenwald of Jamestown NY, Peter (Jackie) Recktenwald of Ringgold GA, Sarah (Greg) Golder of Corning, Raymond "Scott" (Stacy) Ruggles of TN, Karen Ruggles of Henrietta, NY. Her siblings Anne (William) McLaughlin of Campbell, NY, Thomas (Cheryl) Rotsell of Lawrenceville, PA, Joni (Dave) Boxall of Watkins Glen, NY, Joseph (Christine Adams) Rotsell, her Daughter-in-law, Theresa Ruggles of Corning, NY. Her Grandson that she and her husband Ron raised as their son, Joseph Recktenwald, 14 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Francis and June Rotsell, her husband Lloyd (Ron) Ruggles Sr., her son Lloyd (Ronnie) Ruggles Jr. and her brother Francis (Chip) Rotsell. Mary's daughter Sarah would like to extend all her love and tremendous thanks to her brother and sister in law Mike and Crystal Recktenwald, nephew Joseph Recktenwald, daughters Hannah Golder and Carrie Vogel for caring for Mary since the passing of her husband Ron in 2017, and a very special thank you to Carrie Vogel for her attentiveness and love given to her grandmother the last months of her life. The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home, 327 E. Second St., Corning, NY on Friday March 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the Funeral service to immediately follow.
