She was predeceased by: her parents, Milton Whaley and Kathleen Whaley (Foley); her husband Charles D. Smith; her son Thomas Ditzel; and her siblings, Mary E. Fay, Nancy Cutcliffe and Thomas M. Whaley Sr..

She is survived by: her children, Patricia Steinsholt of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert Ditzel of Batavia, William Ditzel of Batavia and David Ditzel (Julie) of Rochester; her stepchildren, Deborah Sikora (John) of Rochester, Donna Smith of Medina and Mark Smith (Teresa) of Caledonia; her daughter-in-law Christine Ditzel; her siblings, William Whaley (Sonia) of Pavilion and Linda Dirrks of Kansas City, Kansas; and her siblings-in-law, Edward Cutcliffe of Pavilion and Rosemary Whaley of Pearl Creek.
