It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of John J. Derleth Sr. of Batavia, New York, born in Rochester, New York, who passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Derleth and Arlene Derleth (Dilmore); his wives, Nancy Strike and Patricia Farrell; and his siblings, Richard, Tom, Gerald, Lawrence and Mary Ann.

He is survived by: his children, Christine Thomas (Richard) of Williamsville, Shirley Shaffer (Allen), John Derleth Jr. (Betty), Mary Moskal of Dunkirk, Roy Johnson (Nancy) and Wade Johnson; and his brother Harry Derleth. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
