He was predeceased by: his parents, Byron Murray and Mary Ann Murray (Narby); and his sister Rita Murray Simon. He is survived by: his children, Byron Douglas Murray, III of Rochester and Marya Murray-Diaz (Carlos) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriel Murray, Lucia and Carlos Moises Diaz; his former wife Nancy Pellam Yaeger; and his stepchildren, Kenneth Bauer (Kim) and Anne Schwalbach (William). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
