He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Atwater and Martha Gillis Atwater; and his brothers, Robert and Dan Atwater. He is survived by: his son James Atwater II (June); his grandchildren, Alissa, Autumn and Baylee; his sister Joyce Kirby; and his close friend Priscilla Schepis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
