She was predeceased by: her parents, Leo J. Sarazen and Clara M. Sarazen (Dumoulin); her husband William K. Root; her sister Rita Garrelts; and her brother-in-law Lural Garrelts.
She is survived by: her children, Kimberly A. Root, Pamela Brewer (Richard), Stephanie Knobel, William K. Root (Kathleen), Anne Gallese (Francis), Catherine Holden (Doug), Scott Root (Seana) and Matthew Root (Johanna); her brothers, Richard Sarazen (June) and Leo Sarazen (Elaine); her grandchildren, Jennifer Brannin (Benjamin), Ashlee Brewer, Michael Knobel (Ann), Jessica Knobel, Katie Holden, Lauren DePoint, Matthew Holden, Jacob DePoint, Brian Root, Kerry Root, Madeline Root, Andrew Root, Chase Root, Rowan Root and Henry Root; and her great grandchildren, William Brannin, Julianne Brannin, Harrison Brannin, Amelia Brannin and Lena Holden. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
