Frank D. Griffin Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Frank D. Griffin announce his passing on the evening of December 25, 2021. Frank spent a wonderful Christmas day in picturesque Vermont at his daughter's home surrounded by family. Frank was 79 years young.
Frank was born in Glens Falls, NY and grew up on Church Street in Saratoga Springs, NY where he developed a lifelong love of trains as his father was Yardmaster of the D&H Railroad. Frank graduated from St. Peter's High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College.
Frank met Jo-Ann, his bride of 56 years on a blind date at the Community Theater on Broadway in Saratoga. They lived in Ballston Spa for their entire marriage. They have three children, Ann, Joey, and Johnny,
Frank retired from an over 30-year career with New York State in the State Emergency Management Agency. Frank also served his country and retired after 20 years as a Major in the Army National Guard. Frank led a very active and involved life outside of his career highlighted by his 28 years on the Saratoga County Fair Board. Frank's passion for the Fair included attending annual conferences in Las Vegas, enrolling in classes in Fair management, and networking across New York State with the NY State Fair Association. Frank and Jo-Ann also were members of the Ballston Spa Bi-centennial Committee in 2008.
Frank was pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Helen; his two older sisters, Judy and Nora; his sister-in-law Nancy Morley; and his granddaughter Chloe.
Frank is survived by his wife Jo-Ann; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Joe Ralbovsky; son Joe; son John (Taliah); grandsons Jack, Ryan, and Cooper; granddaughters Frankie, Emily, Elise, and Morgan; his sister Judy's family; his sister Nora's family; his sister Kathy Hickey and her husband Bill and family; his brother Brian Griffin and his wife Holly and family; and all his extended family and loved ones.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday, December 29 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Facemasks will be required. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 9:30am Thursday, December 30 at St. Mary's Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Frank may be made to St Mary's School or the Saratoga County Fairground Grandstand Rebuild Fund care of the Saratoga County Fair Office, 162 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa.
