He was predeceased by: his parents, Valentine Gering and Elizabeth Gering (Jordan); his wife Diane R. Gering; and his brother Joseph Gering. He is survived by: his son Robert M. Gering; his brother Donald Gering (Eileen); and his sister-in-law MaryAnn Gering. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Grace Church.
