He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Cannistra and Mildred Cannistra. He is survived by: his children, Colleen (Alan Gaydorus), Afton, Jason (Robin Cannistra) and Jarrett (Jennifer Cannistra); his grandchildren, Cali Gaydorus, Sayde Gaydorus, Nikiah Gaydorus, Shyahna Gaydorus, Aletha Cannistra, Jillian Cannistra, Sara Cannistra, Joseph Cannistra, Troy Cannistra and Jack Cannistra; his sister-in-law Judy Cannistra of Titusville, FL; and his siblings, Catherine Francisco, RoseMary Cannistra and Richard Cannistra. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
