He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Ives (Wade) and Marvin C. Ives; and his brothers, Phillip and Alan. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Ives (Burdick); his sons, Mark D. Ives (Crystal) and Thomas C. Ives (Kellie); his grandsons, Phillip, Adam, Zachary and Brent; his stepgranddaughters, Shelby and Abigail; and his brother Roger Ives (Nancy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and the rest of his many relatives.
