He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Nelson and Mary Nelson (Harrison); his granddaughter Samantha McNeil; his sisters, Sherilyn Pacelli, Marilynn Linscott and Kathryn Ketcham; and his pet Chippy.

He is survived by: his spouse Dana Kennedy Nelson; his children, Mary McNeil (Christopher) of Perth, NY, Jessica Nelson, Casey Rafferty (Beth) of Lynbrook, NY, Shannon Rafferty and Troy; and his grandchildren, Eron, Eva, Eli Hozanivic, Eleanor McNeil, Natalie, Calvin and Audrey Rafferty. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
