He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Gibbs and Marian Gibbs (Armstrong); his grandson Joseph Donahue, Jr.; his wife Linda; his children, Melissa Green (Jeff), Steven Gibbs (Morgan), Becky Donahue and Lisa Elia (Joe); his grandchildren, Shawn Lunt (Amanda), Alexis Peterson, Connor Donahue, Madison Donahue, Olivia Elia and Kayla Elia; his great grandchild Paisley Mae Lunt; and his sisters, Alice Meager (David) and Carolyn Whitney (James).
