He is survived by: his wife Betty; his children, Nikol Thompson (Jeff) of Greenwich, CT and John Gruning III of Manalapan, NJ; his grandchildren, Alexander, Luke, Jackson and Tori; and his sisters, Anna Velez (Das), Norma Sadocha and Janet Smigelski (Tom). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
