He was predeceased by: his daughter Lelia Newland; and his sister Margaret Mullen. He is survived by: his wife Rita Newland (Eutize); his children, Frances, Joseph (Kim), Robert (Gemma), Mark Newland (Liz), Rita Yernye (John) and Scott Nealon; and his siblings, Gerard Newland, James, Francis and Elizabeth Newland. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
