He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwyn Ryder and Eleanor Gardiner Ryder of Amsterdam; his son James; and his siblings, Peter Ryder and Barbara Robertshaw.

He is survived by: his wife Carole Ann Bowman Ryder; his children, Thomas Andrew Ryder, Maria Ryder, Ginger Fluharty (Michael), Connie Hamilton (Bill) and Deborah Hardcastle (William); his sister Linda C. Ryder Hidde; and his grandchildren, Michael, Allison, Anne Marie, Chad, Thomas, Casey, Jessica, Kari and Grace. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
