He was predeceased by: his parents, Myron W. Bates, Sr. and Olive Bates (Riesdorf); his wife Margaret Edgeworth; and his brother William W. Bates. He is survived by: his children, Mike Bates (Patty) of Amenia, NY, Bobby Bates (Katrina) of Lakeville, CT and Cindy Anderson (Mark) of Dover Plains; his brothers, Carlton Bates (Merium) and Arthur Rivenburgh (Sally); his granddaughters, Lindsey Lussa (Joe) and Carly Anderson (Raymond); his great grandchildren, Chayse Michael and Tye Maddox Sherrer; and his partner Cele Cummings. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19, funeral services will be private.
