He was predeceased by: his parents, Lydia Carlson and James Carlson; his wife Helen Anna Nelson; and his brothers, James and John.
He is survived by: his children, James Carlson (Cindy), Susan Edwards (Robert) and Christopher Carlson (Gail); his grandchildren, Tim (Shelby), Ian, Kimberly, Brian, Alexandra, Amanda and Haley; his great grandchildren, Sophia and Gemma; and his close friend Edgar Muth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his brother-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in his name to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
