He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Farmer and Geraldine Gloss Farmer; his mother-in-law Marilyn Athoe; his sisters-in-law, Deborah DeMay and Laura Athoe; and his nephew Thomas Farmer.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Athoe Farmer (Liz) of Alexander; his son James R. Farmer of Alexander; his siblings, Lawrence Jr. Farmer (Marie) of New Jersey, Frank Farmer (Sue) of South Carolina, Fred Farmer (Nancy) of Lancaster, Jean Farmer of North Carolina and Veronica Farmer (Ted Hinton) of Lancaster; his father-in-law Harold W. Athoe, II of Batavia; and his brothers-in-law, Daniel Athoe (Debra) of Batavia, John Athoe (Vicki) of Batavia, Peter Athoe of Kentucky and Paul Athoe of Batavia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
