He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Agnes Houghton Phillips; his sister Sara "Sally" Babcock; his niece Laura Babcock Urtz; his son-in-law John Sellers; his daughter Sharon Phillips; his parents-in-law, Lester Conway and Kathryn "Frank" Conway; his brother-in-law Thomas Conway; and his nephew Bart Conway.
He is survived by: his wife Joan E. Conway; his grandchildren, Clinton (Nikki Sellers), Michael Alger, Thomas Alger (Rachel Burke), Craig Gengler (Courtney), Tyler Gengler, Kyle (Miranda Phillips) and Katelyn Phillips (Ron Spann); his great grandchildren, Jared, Emily Sellers, Abigail and Arabella Alger; his brother-in-law Gerald "Jerry" Babcock; his nieces and nephews, Emalie, Colton Grosjean Jr., Terri and Ricky Ryan; his children, Abigail, Rachel, Caroline, Jennifer Babcock, Shea and Tyler; his grandchildren, Emma Rose Gallagher, Brent, Brock Conway, Judy and Doug Williams; his great grandchildren, Gina and Steven Stout; and also, Mary Kathryn Stewart, Kimberly, Walt Hilliard, Meredith and Madison Hilliard of Florida. He is also survived by six children.
