We bid farewell to Lawrence M. Schalberg Jr. of Alden, New York, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on November 1, 2024 at the age of 96. Lawrence touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Lawrence leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Lawrence may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.

He was predeceased by: his wives, Marie Schalberg (Kelchlin) and Patricia Schalberg; his son Jack Schalberg (Jill); and his stepdaughter Barbara Kotas (James). He is survived by: his children, James (Linda) and Susan Jones; and his stepdaughters, Deborah Carder (Daniel), Susan Haefner (late Blaine) and Denise Munn (Michael). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 6th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home (13228 Broadway, Alden, NY 14004). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Annunciation RC Church (7580 Clinton St, Elma, NY 14059).

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alden Fire Dept.

“Larry has been a great friend to my husband Bill (who passed in 2022) and myself for many years. Fond memories of Friday get-togethers with Larry and Marie either at Larry’s bar or our’s; our monthly lunches that included Norb and Joan. Larry always had a smile on his face and was more than happy when you could stop by for a visit and a drink and see his collection of trumpets. He will be greatly missed. Love, Marian Kihl and family”
