He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thornton and Rose Thornton; his daughter Carolyn; and his siblings, Ed, Tom, Donny and Eileen.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Thornton; his children, James Thornton (Danya), Cathy Ruiz (David) and Rebecca Long (James); and his sister Pat Garbato. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Faith Bible Baptist Church (3064 N Gravel Rd, Medina, NY 14103). A burial will be held on Friday, September 27th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Long Island National Cemetery (2040 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY 11735).
