He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Walter Giertz and Augusta Giertz (Wagner); his son Frederick Giertz Jr.; his sisters, Helen Huth and Anna Heschke; his wife Ida; his daughter Betty Pollow (John) of Lockport; his daughter-in-law Jolene Giertz; his grandchildren, Tammy Sears, Wendy Bacon (Craig) and Brian Giertz (Mary); and his sisters, Gladys Dunn of Ransomville, Dorothy Powers of Cherry Creek and Esther Cross (J. G.) of Greece. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY, 14094.

He was a faithful servant of the Lord, a gentle man, who gave wise counsel when he served on the Board of Deacons at Lockport Assembly of God. No, he wasn't a perfect man, but he was a forgiven man! Because he had received such an abundance of grace, he was a man of compassion and genuine love. To his family I simply say, "You were blessed to have had him as a part of your life. Cherish the memories you have of him. And strive to develop the character of this fine example of a Godly man." Our prayers will be lifted up for you as you gather to celebrate Fred's life.”
