He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Schechter and Henrietta Schechter (Sutin); and his in-laws, Estelle and Sanford Jaffee. He is survived by: his wife Linda Schechter (Bernstein); his sons, Brian Schechter of Jersey City and Andrew Schechter of Latham; his brothers, Martin Schechter (Marjorie) of Colonie and Howard Schechter (Dale) of Loudonville; his siblings-in-law, Susan, David Smith of Wantagh, Lea and Sanford Caplan of Great Neck; his nieces and nephews, Brianna Smith (Dan), Danielle Smith, Evan Caplan, Seth Caplan, Lauren Schechter, Samantha Cunningham (Kyle), Tracy Schechter, Robyn DeLeo and Heather Berezansky; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Emery, Anna, Allie, Jesse, Jackson and Max.
A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Congregation Beth Emeth (100 Academy Rd, Albany, NY 12208).
