He was predeceased by: his parent Charles Brooks; his fiancé Robin; and his sibling Gary Brooks of Troy. He is survived by: his parent Rita Burns Brooks; his children, John J. Ryan of Troy and Tiffany Byrnes (James) of Naples, FL; his grandchildren, Ariana Hendrix, Haven Byrnes, Tarique Ryan and Devlin Ryan; and his siblings, James Brooks of Florida, Donald Brooks of Watervliet, Charles Brooks of Brunswick, Thomas Brooks of Troy, Marilyn Brooks of Tennessee and Cynthia Morine of Florida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
