He was predeceased by: his parents, Wallace "Wooley" Bryant and Queenie Bryant; and his son Kelvin (late Michelle). He is survived by: his wife Ida McCreary Bryant; his son David Jr. (Patricia); and his stepsons, Andre and Jeffery McCreary.
