With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Verna M. Montour (Akwesasne, New York), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 18, 2025 at the age of 80. She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Cooper and Edith Logan; her husband Kakwirakeron; her sons, Steve Cooper and Arthur "Sugar" Montour; her grandson Michael Neff; her great grandchild Gionni Garlow; and her siblings, Kate, Dorris, Pat, Joyce, Dwayne, Gary, Floyd Jr., Elwood and Tommy.
She is survived by: her children, Stacy, Mary, Mike, Degayotakeh (Marisa), Teyonienkwataseh, Thanaokate (Amber) and Iohahiio; her stepchildren, Wendy, Kathy (Shawn), Barry (Barbara) and Lynn; and her sisters, Mary Steeprock and Sheila Cooper. She is also survived by 44 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at 570 NY-37, Bombay, NY 12914. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
