He is survived by: his children, Herman Swamp of Akwesasne, Louis Oakes of Akwesasne, Raymond Oakes of Akwesasne, Bonnie Oakes of Akwesasne, Dora Oakes of Akwesasne, Debbie Oakes of Akwesasne, Mark O'Neil of Akwesasne and Joseph Oakes of Akwesasne. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
