She was predeceased by: her parents, William Herne and Charlotte Herne (White); her grandson Christopher Thompson; and her siblings, Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Grant, Anna Mae Laughing, Emily Morris, Loretta Rock, Holly Herne and Lawrence Herne.

She is survived by: her children, Linda Howe (Craig Bader), Leslie (Elaine Thompson), Jerry (Connie Thompson) and Jean (Marty Altman); her great grandchildren, Connor Howe, Etta Howe, Saka, Taka, Stella, Rory, Nolie Ann, Brantley, Clayton, Joey, Adrian, Liam, Angus Thompson and Kenna; her sisters, Caroline Mangone, Phillip Mangone of Clifton, Phoebe Curran of Massena and Hilda Herne of Akwesasne; her brothers-in-law, Walter Morris of Bronx and Mike Rock of Long Island; her children, Wayne Mitchell, Wanda Patterson, Randy Hart, William Morris and Nicole Deshaies; and also, Katherine Thompson, Grace Roundpoint, Joseph Thompson and Carol Ann Thompson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
