He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mario Vargas and Lia Vargas (Peralta); his former wife Helen M. Higgins; his wife Ana Escalante of Costa Rica; his son Kevin Vargas; his grandchildren, Lauren and Michael; his siblings, Frederico, Ricardo and Meicel; his sister-in-law Maria Elena Escalante; and his children, Allison, Leslie and Richard.
