He is survived by: his children, Cheryle West (Bob West), Loren Pursel (Sue Pursel) and Darrell Pursel (Suzanne Pursel); his grandchildren, Cory Smith and Cariann Flakus (Jay); his great grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Flakus; his grandchildren, Donald Pursel (Jen McCauley) and Candy Lediard (Matthew); his great grandchildren, Chase Wetherington and Matthew Lediard, Jr.; his grandchild Denae Pursel; his great grandchild Tiana Boyer; his grandchild Dyanna Nieves (Will); his great grandchildren, Bixby and Aurora; his grandchildren, Brent Pursel (Bri Robinson) and Melissa Pursel; and his brothers, Lynn and Clair.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Melvin's memory to the Nevada Heritage Foundation, which provides scholarships for college and trade school students to further Nevada's rich agricultural tradition by supporting agriculture through education.
