It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Luther William Mack Jr. of Reno, Nevada, who passed away on March 2, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Shortly and Luther Mack Sr. Shortly; his daughter Shannon Mack Costello; his brother Ernest Mack; and his great-nephew Joseph Watson Jr..

He is survived by: his friend Dr. William H. Cosby; his sister Bertha Mack Mullins; his daughters, Marikay Finnie (Malcom) and Janelle Mack Conine (Cory); his grandchildren, Nicholas Derry (Jackie), Nyah Finnie, Rahni Baughman, Jeremiah Costello, Zion Costello, Kiah Conine and Avery Conine; his great grandchildren, Willie Baughman, Skye Derry and Jaycee Derry; his nephew Nathan Mullins (Bonita); his nieces, Carmellia Watson (Joseph) and Roberta Mullins; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jonathan Watson, Isaiah Mullins, Carissa Watson Anderson (Willis) and Marchelle Mullins Bolds (Kevin); and also, Jonathan Watson Jr., Harmonee Watson, Briella Bolds and Carrina Anderson.

In lieu of flowers or gifts please send a donation in Luther's name to the University of Nevada Reno Athletics Department.
