He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Schyler and Lillian Sperling (Emmons); his daughter Paula Kristine Brannum; his great grandchild Gaige Rayden Hammond; his siblings, David Sperling and Donna Pacicco; and his nephew Patrick Ronstadt.
He is survived by: his wife Nadine Sperling; his daughters, Roberta Lawrence (John), Lynda Rants (Steve) and Juli Penuelas (John); his sisters, Barbara (Babs) and Mary Ann Smith (Steve); and his son-in-law Jim Brannum (Teresa). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 great- great grandchildren.
