He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Nowell and Mary Nowell (Watson); his sisters, Jane Moore, Ruby Walker and Leona Helms; and his grandson Samuel.
He is survived by: his former wife Twila Arndt; his sisters, Joyce Yearley (Bob) of Las Cruces and Evelyn Webb of Tularosa; his sons, Bruce Nowell (Diane) of Merrimack, Gary Nowell (Dea) of Great Falls, Randy Nowell of Sacramento and Brad Nowell (Catherine) of Springfield, Oregon; and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Bethany, Austin, Tamara, Keith and Jordan. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions currently in place in New Mexico a memorial service is being planned for a date when family can get together in Tularosa to celebrate Virgil's life.
