He was predeceased by: his parents, William Avery Gilmer and Mary Lillian Sykes Gilmer (Wessie); his siblings, Billy Ray Gilmer and Johnnie May Stanley; his sons, Lawrence Bruce Gilmer and Louis Brian Gilmer; and his grandson Dylan Joseph Padilla.
He is survived by: his spouse Albuquerque; and his children, Bradley Gilmer and Tracey Padilla. He is also survived by two granddaughters, two nieces and many friends.
