It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gene Barela of Tome, New Mexico, who passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Eleanor Vallejos Barela; his son Eugene Barela; and his parents, Rosendo Barela and Agnes Sosa Barela. He is survived by: his children, Orynn Mayhon and Jean Marie Montaño (Jonathan); his grandchildren, Jericho and Jenae Montaño; and his siblings, Martin (Lynette), Phillip Barela (Olivia) and Francis Martinez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
