She was predeceased by: her husband Atanacio "Tane" Romero; her grandson Kodi Wheeler; her parents, Herman Chavez and Domitilda Chavez; and her siblings, Albert Lermusiaux and Audrey Lietzow.
She is survived by: her children, Jim Romero (Luz), Hazel Romero (Ramon), Randy Romero (Trini) and Renee Romero; her grandchildren, Melissa Romero Smith (Smitty), Iris Romero, Vanessa Romero, Santiago Romero, James Romero, Andria Duran (Daniel), Randy Michael Romero, Francisco Romero (Lila) and Tamara Wheeler (Joel); and her siblings, Johnny Chavez and Mildred Fernandez. She is also survived by several great grandchildren.
