He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Mathis Sr. and Lona May Mathis; and his brother Jimmy Welsh. He is survived by: his sister Margie Mathis Fuerst (Bill); his nephews, Alexander Fuerst and John Robert Fuerst; his niece Laura Welsh Sandison; and his aunt Anita Troup of Albuquerque. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
