He was predeceased by: his mother Julia Altamirano Young; and his grandparents, Manuel, Chonita Young, Bernardo and Esther Benavidez.
He is survived by: his father David Torres Benavidez of Colorado Springs, CO; his wife Tamra Burris Benavidez of Silver City; his children, James Benavidez (Stephany) of Hurley, Gabriel Benavidez of Santa Clara, Jerod Sandoval of Nashville, TN., Ashley Benavidez-Cabrera (Gabriel) of Hurley and Nicole Sandoval of Morenci, AZ; his brother Danny Benavidez (Rachel) of Silver City; his stepfather Dennis Atwater; his grandchildren, AJ, Destiny, Gabriel Matthew, Adriana, Isaiah and Alaia; and his great grandchild Laila Villanueva.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Santa Clara Catholic Church (207 Fort Bayard St, Santa Clara, NM 88026). A vigil service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Infant Jesus Catholic Church (204 Cortez Ave, Hurley, NM 88043). A committal service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Fierro Cemetery.
