She was predeceased by: her parents, Ramon Valdez and Augustina Valdez; her sister Dolores Napier; and her nephew Albert Napier. She is survived by: her significant other Joaquin Gallegos; her siblings, Jerome Valdez (Maria Aguilar), Lawrence Valdez (Jean), Geraldine Ward and James Valdez (Jennifer); her brother-in-law Robert Napier; her nieces and nephews, Phillip Valdez, Nicole Valdez, Laurence Valdez, Latisha Cabaniss, Keshia Ward, Malarie Valdez, Eric Valdez, Reyna Trujillo (Jay) and Tina Montoya (Eve); and her aunts and uncles, Esther Gomez (Victor), Marcy Sena (Juan), Emma Chavez, Willie Segovia, Alfred Segovia (Fannie) and Filiberto Segovia. She is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.
One colleague and friend, in particular, gave her the gift of life by donating a kidney to her.
