He was predeceased by: his wife Karen Ushman; his mothers, Kathryn Schanck and Frances Schanck; his brother Thomas Schanck; and his granddaughter Joni Schanck.

He is survived by: his sister Susan Fawcett (Russell); his children, Christine Obeid, Brett Schanck (Laura), Derick Schanck (Jill) and Julia Arbour (Robert); his grandchildren, Chloe Reynolds, Griffin Obeid, Sophie Schanck, Callie Schanck, Adeline Arbour and Cameron Arbour; and his great grandchild Quinn Reynolds. He is also survived by his family, friends.
