Edward Nazzaro Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edward Nazzaro (Santa Fe, New Mexico), born in Dover, New Jersey, who passed away on July 7, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Salvatore Nazzaro (Clementine DeLorenzo Nazzaro) and Ed. He is survived by: his husband Michael John Gary; his pets, Bosco and Bella; his brother Joseph; his sister-in-law Sharon Nazzaro of Randolph, NJ; his sister Anita Fehsal of Succasunna, NJ; his friend Ed's; his nieces and nephews, Kelly Dahms (Ryan), Chrissy Tully (Sean), Jenny Fehsal (Steve), Michael Fehsal (Sandy), Jody Nazzaro (Meredith) and Tim Nazzaro (Maureen); and his caregiver Dominic Vasquez. He is also survived by grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
During COVID, Ed began volunteering as a dog-walker at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
Ed's contributions to education were recognized through numerous awards, including Morris County's Best Teacher Award; two Best Practice Awards from the State of New Jersey; and Outstanding Educator of the Year presented by CHISPAC (Hispanic Political Action Committee). Additionally, he was awarded a prestigious Rockefeller Foundation grant to study the history, culture and literature of Puerto Rico and two Fulbright Scholarships to study education in Japan and to teach in Porto, Portugal.
