He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill "Shorty" Mitchell and Hilda Mitchell (Heitman); his brother Bob; and his sister-in-law Ronette. He is survived by: his daughter Tommye (Sandy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers a scholarship has been established with the Sam Thompson Memorial Foundation in Mitch's honor.
