He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas and Lillie Odessa Moss Smith; his former wife Shirley A. Smith; his daughter Dana A. Horton; and his daughter-in-law Lisa G. Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Smith of Ruidoso; his children, Mark Smith (Kathi), Denise West (Phillip) and James Smith; and his grandchildren, Shaun West (Lacey), Nicholas Smith, Crystal Dick (Nathan), Daniel Horton (Megan) and Taylor Smith (Melanie). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
