He was predeceased by: his parents, Patricia "Chata" Montoya and Gonzalo S. "Chalo" Montoya; his siblings, Javier Montoya, Abel Montoya, Gonzalo Jr. Montoya, Lupe Baeza, Rosa McNeil, Natalia Montoya, Tio and Santos Valenzuela; and his grandparents, Ignacio, Teodora Montoya, Juana and German Valenzuela.
He is survived by: his sons, Jacob D. Montoya, Nick Montoya (Michelle) and Jeremy Montoya (Kiara); his grandchildren, Jacob D Montoya Jr. and Arianna Montoya; and his sisters, Mary Pasillas of Roswell and Juanita Aguilar of Cottonwood.
Viewing was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory (2609 S Main St, Roswell, NM 88203). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony Catholic Church (502 S 9th St, Artesia, NM 88210). A burial was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at the Lake Arthur Cemetery (250-200 Pueblo Rd, Lake Arthur, NM 88253).
