He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Dolores Ortiz Kozlowski; his uncles, Lee Smith and Adeliado Ortiz; his grandmother Carlota Marquez Ortiz; his wife Nora F. Montoya; his brother Max Montoya (Helen); his daughters, Dorinda M Fredrick (Dale), Linda L Montoya (Catherine) and Theresa Nathan (Mark); his grandchildren, Shawn T. Fredrick (Jayne), Richard D Fredrick, Marcos R Fredrick, Tanya F Danko, Seria Gonzales Millay (Adam) and Briea Nathan; his great grandchildren, Cody Fredrick, Connor Fredrick, Tait Fredrick, Macie Fredrick, Otto Fredrick, Cole Fredrick, Owen Fredrick, Dominic Danko and Drake Danko; his father Max Montoya; his uncle English; his former wife Nora Martinez; and also Manuel Abeyta. He was also cherished by cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Gary Sinise Foundation for wounded veterans in Ruben's memory.
