He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Rose and Joe E. Montez; his father Norberto G. Herrera; and his uncle Patrick Montez. He is survived by: his mother Theresa Montez; his children, Isaiah Herrera, Zachariah Herrera and Hanaiyah Herrera; his sisters, Montessa Valdez (Kelly) and Margaret Colette Herrera; his niece Shay Valdez; his nephew Dominic Valdez (Laura Atkins); and his close friends, Lenny Roybal and John Hayes. He is also survived by numerous friends and family.
