He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Alejandro Montes and Francesquita Montes; his parents, Roberto Montez and Aurelia C. De Baca Montez; his siblings, Ralph Montes, Ramon Montez, Jose Montez, Robert Montez Jr., Sylvia Candelaria and Consuelo Gonzales; and his grandson Ralph Christian Montez.
He is survived by: his wife Marina; his sister Alice Baca of Las Vegas; his children, Ralph M. Montez (Rachel), Marie Antoinette Miller (Michael), Helen Louise Montez (Humberto Robles) and Sharon Rose Wilson (Reece); his grandchildren, Maria Ximena Montez Coss (James), Claudine Miller (Roy Gallegos), Marissa Pilar Montez, Greg Wilson (Andrea), Gabriel Wilson (Michelle Armijo) and Ariana Montez; and his great grandchildren, Violetta Helene Salazar, Christian Rafael "Buster" Salazar, Alex Wilson, Marina Wilson and Pilar Coss.
