He was predeceased by: his parents, Felix Mares and Lucy Mares; his siblings, Gilbert, Louis, Bunky and Lina; his grandsons, Matthew and Gabriel Mares; and his son-in-law Jose 'Butch Archuleta.
He is survived by: his children, Yolanda Archuleta, Diane Wolfzahn (Ralph), Jeanette Mares-Jones (Sean) and Phillip Mares. He is also survived by six grandsons, one granddaughter, and 10 great- grandchildren.
