He was predeceased by: his wife Leah Mae Byrd Barnes; his parents, Pete Barnes and Alta Barnes; and his siblings, Lois Nicholson, Bonnie Houston, Frances Lunders, Nellie Hennigan, Ila Barnes, H. T. Barnes, Joe Barnes and Bill Barnes.
He is survived by: his sister Lula Jim "Judy" Rhoads; his children, Miriam Harrison (Timo) of Albuquerque, Donna Taylor (Charlie) of Fort Sumner, Denise McElroy (John) of Las Cruces, Betty Clune (Gary) of Palm Harbor, Carol Rendon (Arnold Vialpando) of Brighton and Michael Barnes (Jody) of Tucumcari; and his grandsons, Donald Harrison, Travis Barnes, Casey McElroy, Marco Trujillo, Jacob Trujillo and Robert Ray Clune. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and many friends.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Social Distancing guidelines, services are limited to the immediate family.
